The lives of actresses are a fascination here at ELLE (we are the home of Women in Hollywood, after all), including Maggie Gyllenhaal’s new project about Marilyn Monroe—dual casting Dakota Johnson and Ellen Burstyn in the role. The always provocative director says her short film is “about Marilyn and also about actresses in general and what it’s like to have that strange, very vulnerable, and at the same time, very powerful job.” Color me intrigued. (In other screen news, is everyone else obsessed with Apple TV’s Widow’s Bay? We have news on season 2 below!)
