Today marks the first game of the Women’s Professional Baseball League—and it’s sold out, by the way. As ELLE contributor Katie C. Reilly reports, the league brings together women from all over the world who have been fighting for years to simply play the sport they love. “We’ve all grown up in this same boat of being the only girl on the team and had to overcome similar hardships,” says Ashton Lansdell, who plays for the Los Angeles Queens. “But then we’ll all come together on one field and we see each other in every other one of us.” Read the inspiring story below.
