Recent runway shows have made clear that designers and customers alike are moving away from “quiet luxury” toward something more joyful and distinctive. Enter eccentric dressing, in the mode of Peggy Guggenheim and other midcentury art patrons whose personal style was as curated as their collections. For ELLE’s May issue, photographer Daniel Archer and stylist Gro Curtis teamed up to bring us a celebration of the whimsical archetype. And to round out the story, Jenny Walton, the illustrator, street-style favorite, and author of the new book Jenny Sais Quoi, is the latest newsletter writer to pair her words with one of our fashion shoots, as part of our ongoing partnership with Substack. Her piece is a reminder that, as Walton puts it, “getting dressed is an art.”
