Good prequels are hard to come by. So it's a pleasant surprise that Starz's Outlander prequel, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, stands on its own two feet. You don't need a bachelor's degree in Diana Gabaldon's novel universe to grasp what's taking place in Blood of My Blood, now midway through its first season: Two couples from different time periods converge in 18th-century Scotland as political strife heats up around them, setting into motion events that will one day bring their respective children together—as allies, then as lovers. The prequel has been renewed for a second season, which is good news for those of us enraptured by the drama. The secret meetings! The betrayals! The sexual tension! If you aren't already rooting for Brian and Ellen—and Henry and Julia—now's the time to catch up. (Below, you'll find our latest recap.)
